What do we take?We take many different products. Please visit the links below for details.
CardboardWe take corrugated cardboard but it has to be manageable for our collectors. Flatten and tie or tape the cardboard into bundles no bigger than your crate (50cm x 50cm max), so it's easy to pick up. Pizza boxes are okay, as long as they're clean and tied. We also take thin, flat card such as cereal packets and soap powder boxes. We take one litre milk cartons and they are the only cardboard items we don't want flattened. Examples
PreparationCardboardCardboard needs to be cut into pieces about the same size as your recycling crate (approx 50cm x 50cm), and tied or taped together so that it can be thrown easily onto the trucks. This is so that the cardboard can fit into the truck opening for paper. Also, larger pieces are more likely to be blown about by the wind. Large amounts of cardboard can be dropped off, for free, at your local EcoDepot recycling centre. Thin, Flat CardThin, flat card must be flattened and put into a plastic supermarket bag with your paper. Cardboard Milk CartonsPlease ensure these are clean and empty. Please rinse your milk containers but do not squash them, and put them loose into your crate. They are used to grow native plants and shrubs by Trees for Canterbury . **RememberPlease ensure all items are clean, dry and empty.
