What is Real Recycling
Real Recycling is a partnership between organisations and businesses in Christchurch and the
Waimakariri District. The members of this partnership are
TerraNova,
Transpacific Industries,
the Christchurch City Council
and the Waimakariri District Council.
Together these partners undertake the obligations of providing kerbside collection to city
residents (the Councils), collecting material from kerbside (Transpacific) and processing this material so
that it can be recycled (TerraNova).
The primary focus of Real Recycling is to encourage participation in kerbside recycling, and to
promote appropriate ways of doing this. Real Recycling is committed to take only what can be
recycled, and to recycle what is taken - that is real recycling.
Real Recycling has been successful in diverting close to 30,000 tonnes of resources out of our landfill per annum.
